Summer Wreath

This is a post I shared last year on my old blog, I thought you all might like it so I have decided to share it here.  Enjoy!
Today I want to talk to you about wreaths.  I think wreaths are so much fun to have on the front door or on any door in your home.  I use a basic wreath "idea" for many of my wreaths and then dress them up with fun things that I find.  My basic wreath "idea" is to use tulle.  I just love this stuff and it is so inexpensive!
Here is the wreath I made for this tutorial today

I just love how it turned out - at first I thought it might be too bright but after looking at it for awhile I was quite happy with it.  It feels so summery to me.
So lets begin - you will want to start with a wreath form (mine was a 14 inch wreath), two or three colors of tulle, a few sraight pins, and something fun to put in the middle.

Choose one color of tulle (I am starting with the yellow) and pin the end of the tulle on the back of the wreath

Now you are going to wrap the tulle around the wreath in the same spot 4 or 5 times so no white can be seen beneath the tulle.

You are going to go around the entire wreath this way leaving a space in between - like so

Once you have gone all the way around you want to cut the tulle and pin the end piece on the back of the wreath

Repeat with your next color of tulle - for me this was the red.

Doesn't this look so fun!  I just love the vibrant colors!
Next you will want to cut a piece of tulle for hanging the wreath.  Cut a piece of tulle, fold it in half and pin the two end pieces to the back of the wreath

I had this cute little sign that I bought on sale at Michael's that I wanted to hang in the middle.  I secured it with a push pin and then hung it on my front door

Just lovely, right?  However, I am a bit worried that the push pin won't be strong enough for the sign if we have a wind or if the kids slam the door so I am going to have to think of something stronger for it.
I think this is such a fun idea - there are so many tulle colors available that you really could make anything to match your home decor or holidays.  One of my favorites of the year is the one I made for the 4th of July

And do you know what the best part is?  This wreath only took me at the most 15 minutes!  So quick, easy and cute - Now that is my kind of craft!
