Pre Snap Conference Party

This coming April is the Snap! Conference.  I am so excited to be going to this conference.  It is my first conference I have ever been too and I am so nervous!

One reason I am so nervous is that I won't know anyone.  Well a Pre Snap party has been planned to help me fix that.  This little party is not sponsored by Snap, it is just a bunch of us who are planning on going,  who want to get together and know each other before the actual conference.

So we are getting together for dinner tomorrow night - March 1st.  If you are interested in joining us please email me for the details, I would love to meet you!

Lucky as can be!

Can you believe St. Patricks Day is right around the corner?  Yup!  In about 2 1/2 weeks my kids will be trying to pinch me as much as they can because I usually forget to where the customary green on this day.  We don't do much to celebrate for St. Patricks, but I still like to do a little bit of decorating for it.

This block set I finished yesterday is perfect for me.  Because truly I am Lucky as can be!  I am very blessed to have my wonderful children and husband - though I may be grumbling a bit when they start pinching me.  Do you do anything fun for St. Patricks Day?  Do you decorate a lot or just a little bit for it?

These also can be found at my Etsy shop!

Family Blocks

So I made a new block set that says family and I really like how it turned out.  It has cute little words, flowers and some bling.  It is in browns, blues, whites and yellows.  I need some opinions though.
The blocks are mostly blue with a bit of white and yellow.  Does that one block in yellow - the "L" block - does it look funny?  Ya know, being the only yellow block?  I feel like it is sticking out a bit, but I wanted to bring out the yellows from the other blocks.

So would you redo the L block to something that wasn't so drastically yellow?  Please let me know what you think.
These blocks can also be found in my etsy shop.

Thanks,

Simple Happy Birthday Card

I wanted to share a Simple cute birthday card I made.

I used a Making Memories manila pinstripe card.  I inked the edges in green ink and then adhered the manila card into the pinstripe portion of the card.  I used black rubons for the "Happy Birthday".  For the flower I used some yellow flowers (I think they are Making Memories) a green mini brad and a green diecut flower stem.

At the bottom I hole punched two spots and tied some pink ribbon on.

I pretty much copied the design idea on the back of the card package and I really liked how it turned out.  Here it is finished

Thanks for looking!

Easter Wood Blocks and Weekend Wrapup

I made the cutest blocks this weekend!  I worked on blocks for St. Patricks Day, Easter, Birthdays and Family.  The Easter and Family blocks are all finished and I just love how they turned out.  I am going to show off the Easter blocks today and the Family ones tomorrow.

I can't wait until it gets closer to Easter so I can put these out on my mantle.

So cute if I do say so myself!  Also while I was working on my Easter blocks Miss Adison was cutting out a decorating a Snowman.  She begged me to put a picture on here of her cute little snowman - she even took the picture of it herself.

I love that we can do crafts together and I know she loves it too.

My Easter blocks can also be found in my Etsy shop.
Now for my Weekend Wrapup.  I usually like to put this out there on Saturdays but I was out of town and never found a moment to get on my laptop.  So here is what happened around here this week:

Last weekend I went on a fun Scrapbook weekend with my girlfriends.
My easy peasy menu for the week was posted on Monday.
I gave a tutorial on  spraypainting a glass vase - it is so easy!

We then had a family reunion on my husbands side of the family that has kept me busy all week.  it was a tons of fun, but I am so ready to sit home and relax and watch the Academy Awards tonight.

How was your week?

Spray Painting a glass vase

After reading several blogs regarding Spray Painting glass Items I decided I was finally ready to try it.  I was really hoping this would work because I like to have colorful vases around my home and on my mantle that match my decor.  If this could work - imagine the possibilites!
So I hit the DI and found this Glass vase for really cheap - I can't remember how cheap but I am pretty sure it was under a $1.  I washed and cleaned it up.

It is pretty but a bit boring - excuse my garage mess in the background. Miss Adison is watching me while she is all dressed up in her Sleeping Beauty dress.
I decided to spray paint this red.  It would match so many themes - Valentine, Patriotic, Christmas.  This vase is painted with a Krylon Cherry Red - Gloss

I painted with short even sprays.  Don't spray to close or you will get drips.  I let the vase dry in between coats.  After the first two coats it was still looking a bit pink but after another it was the nice red that I wanted.

Here it is all dry and a nice pretty Cherry Red.

The part of my mantle it is on - I love how it looks!

I am planning on using this red vase for so many different occasions - Valentines Day, 4th of July, Summer, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas

I am also planning on buying some more vases and more spray paint colors because I just love how this vase turned out!  What do you think?

This weeks Menu

So I am kinda brain dead after my scrapbook weekend and didn't want to think too hard about my Meal plan this week.  We will be spending time with the in-laws Friday through Sunday and will be in and out all weekend.  So I only need to plan 4 meals this week.  So I decided to make the family help me with the planning.  I asked each person in my family to tell me one thing they wanted to eat for dinner - and that is how I came up with my easy peasy menu.  So here is what everyone chose:
Kayden/Monday - Spaghetti & Garlic Bread (Kayden is on such a spaghetti kick lately)
Adison/Tuesday - Chicken Nuggets and Mac & Cheese (not my favorite but I can totally handle this)
Carson/Wednesday - Pizza (not sure yet if I will do homemade or delivery)
Ryan/Thursday - Chicken Alfredo
I think I will make the person who chose the meal help me with prep and cleanup as well.  If you are looking for other family favorite recipes check out my recipe section.

Scrapbooking

Do you Scrapbook?  It has been forever since I have, and I finally got back into it this last weekend.  Oh how I have missed it!

This cute page kit was made for me by my friend Celia.  All I had to do was add pictures!
I had a great weekend scrapbooking with some girlfriends of mine, but man I am so tired!  It was worth it though.  We met together at a hotel - there was a nice conference room reserved for us with about 30 to 40 other ladies.  The room was decorated so cute and we had plenty of room to work on our scrapbooks!  We each had some scrapbook goodies sitting at our spot on our table and there were yummy treats provided by the hostess.  You think that for a bunch of scrapbookers we would think to take a picture - well no one in my group did - darn.
I arrived at 4pm and had 4 pages done before we headed out to dinner.  We went to T.G.I. Fridays and it was so yummy!  I just love their steak and mashed potatoes.  Have you tried their new Parmesan Potato Wedges?  I think they are divine!

After dinner we headed back to the hotel and scrapbooked until 1 in the morning.  At that point we thought it would be great fun to go swimming and sit in the hot tub.  It was a blast and I didn't hit my pillow until 3am.  I never stay up that late - so it was fun!
Some of my roomies slept until 11 the following day, but I have never been one that can sleep in.  I was up and back in the scrapbook room at 8am.  And by 4pm I could barely keep my eyes open.  The rest of the ladies stayed a bit longer but I headed for home - good thing home was only 5 minutes away or I would have needed to sleep in my car.  I really needed this weekend - all the laughing, good food and completing 22 scrapbook pages was awesome!

So are you into scrapbooking?  What is your favorite part?  Mine is looking through them with my kiddos and remembering all of the memories.

Weekly Wrapup

This week, as with every week was busy - yet fun!
On Monday my sweet little Kayden turned 10.  I still can't believe it!

On Tuesday we had a fun Valentines Day.  My kids loved handing out the special Valentines we made this year to their classmates. Valentines night Ryan had to work late so the kids and I watched a movie while I secretly read a book.

I didn't do much cooking this week.  Reasons discussed in this weeks Menu post.
Ryan and I celebrated Valentines Day/Our Anniversary on Wednesday.  Ryan took me out to eat at Olive Garden and then we watched a movie together at home.

Friday I left for a weekend out with some girlfriends.  We went to a hotel to scrapbook.  I will discuss the fun we had next week.

Did you do anything fun this week?

This weeks Menu

So with it being Wednesday I am a bit late putting together my weekly menu, and there really isn't much of one.  This week is a bit different week for us so things have been kinda up in the air.
Monday was Kayden's birthday and so I was letting him choose dinner.  I seriously thought he would choose pizza but instead he chose Spaghetti.
Tuesday was Valentines day and I usually do leftovers on Tuesday or something super easy (like drive-thru) because I have scouts on Tuesdays.  So we ended up having leftover Spaghetti and candy :)
Today is my Anniversary so Ryan is taking me out to eat.  I haven't a clue yet what I will be feeding the kids.
Thursday is the only day I really need to come up with something.
Friday I am leaving in the afternoon for a girls weekend of scrapbooking at a hotel with my friends.  I am so excited and leaving the meal for the night up to Ryan.
So as you can see - not much of a week for a menu.  I just need to think of something for tomorrow.
Also I wanted to mention that last couple of weeks I have tried some new recipes and there were 3 the family just loved!  I have added these 3 recipes to my recipe page so I can reference these recipes when planning future menus.  So without further ado here are the 3 recipes my family loved:
Are you planning anything yummy for this weeks menu?

This years Valentines

Every year I have big ambitions to make the kids Valentines that they take to school.  And every year because life is so busy I run out of time and run to the store the night before Valentines Day.  I buy store bought Valentines (which I think are just fine by the way), but because I wait until the last minute the Valentines are not the ones my kids would have chosen.  So they aren't too thrilled.
This year I made the goal to do it at the beginning of the month and I am very happy to say that this year was a success!  Yea me! :)  I know you all have probably seen this Valentine idea all over the internet but I love it.  It was a new idea to my kids so they were so excited to help me.  Plus it was so simple and easy for the kids to do.
First I took a picture of Adison and Kayden

Next I added text to the picture.  Adison's photo says "Hope your Valentine's Day is Sweet!  Your friend Adison.  Kayden's photo says "I am a Sucker for You!  Kayden"

Than using one of my most favorite tools - The Cropodile - I punched a hole right above the hand and right below the hand.  A regular hole puncher works fine as well - I just love using my cropodile!  Next you add a sucker and whala!  A cute, easy and fun Valentine!

Cute huh!
