Utah Truffles

I was very excited when Utah Truffles sent me a box of yummy treats to share with my friends at a party I threw.  I just love chocolate and Utah Truffles Chocolate is to die for!

I can find Utah Truffles in my local grocery store but if you aren't as lucky as me you can order some deliciousness from their website.  I was worried that the chocolate might be a bit melted when they arrived on my doorstep but Utah Truffles packaged it so it wouldn't.  My chocolates were in a styrofoam cooler with ice packs and everything was perfect!

I gave all of my friends some of the wonderful mint truffles (my personal favorite), chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate covered cinnamon bears.  Yum!!!

Thanks Utah Truffles for sponsoring my party and giving me such yummy chocolate!  Have you tried Utah Truffles?  Which flavor is your favorite?

I received a box of goodies to share but all opinions are 100% mine - I LOVE chocolate!

Back To School Chalkboard Treat Bag

Last week I shared my Back To School Chalkboard Treat Bag over on Mom It Forward. Today I would like to share this with you here on my blog in case you didn't get a chance to see it.

School started again for us on Tuesday.  I made this cute treat bag that my daughter filled with fun school supplies and treats for her teacher.  You could make this for your child's teacher or for a fun lunch bag for your child. I think this cute bag would make any ones day!

So let’s get started!

How to Make a Chalkboard Treat Bag

Supplies:

  • Paper sack
  • Chalkboard vinyl
  • Ribbon
  • Red, green, and brown paper for the apple
  • Chalk
  • Solid and striped matching cardstock
  • School supplies or treats

Directions:

Front of Bag:
Take your paper sack and fold over the top. I folded the top over about an inch. I then measured the rest of the bag to determine how big I wanted to make my chalkboard piece. Using some chalkboard vinyl, I cut out a rectangle piece that measured 4 1/4 inches x 6 1/4 inches. I then peeled off the vinyl backing and placed the chalkboard vinyl onto the paper sack.
I then cut two pieces of ribbon that measured the entire width of the bag. Glue the ribbon pieces towards the bottom of the bag as shown.
For the apple, you could use any cute apple die cut. I cut this apple out by hand—I made some leaves and a stem and then glued everything together. Then using a pen, I made some stitch marks around the apple and on the leaves. For fun, I added a little square and made it look like it was patched on and then glued on a button. I love how the apple turned out and I think it looks so cute on the bag.
Using chalk, add any cute message. My bag says “Thank You” but you could put other catchy titles like “A is for Apple” or “You’re an A+ Teacher/Kid” or “Have a great first day of school!” Really anything would be great and this could be personalized however you want.
Fill the bag up with school supplies or treats or your child’s lunch for the first day.

Top of Bag:
Grab a piece of matching green cardstock and a scrap of striped green paper. The green cardstock was cut to 5 1/4 inches x 3 inches and the striped green paper was cut to 5 inches x 2 1/2 inches. Fold each piece in half (length wise). Place the pieces of paper over the folded top of bag as pictured below.
Punch two holes and put a piece of ribbon or tulle through the holes—I used red tulle. Tie in a knot and cut to the desired length.
I think this cute Chalkboard Treat Bag will be great for your child to bring to their teacher even if school has already started - and it is so easy!

Frankenweenie

It is probably no secret to you how much I love Halloween.  What you may not know about is my huge love of movies. I would prefer to go to the movies than almost anything else.  So I was pretty excited to see the preview for Frankenweenie.

Movies around Halloween are always the best!  The inspiration for this film comes from the creative genius of Tim Burton (a favorite of mine) and Disney. Okay so I would rather go to Disney then the movies - but a movie by Disney is super high up on my list! Frankenweenie looks like it will be a fun story about a boy and his dog.If you haven't yet seen the preview of Frankenweenie than you can view it below.

Frankenweenie will be out in Theatres on October 5th.  Are you excited to see it??

The Green Kangaroo

Last week I told you about a party I had with a bunch of my friends.  It was a fun night of food and games plus I told my friends all about some of my favorite companies.  Some of these fabulous companies helped sponsor my party and it was such a huge success!  One of the fabulous companies is The Green Kangaroo.  To thank them for sponsoring my party I want to tell you all about them.

I first heard of The Green Kangaroo when I was at Snap Conference.  In my goodie bag at the conference I received this fun set

I thought it was so cute and just loved the quality of the paper.  So I had to check out their website.  I found so many beautiful and creative products and designs.  They have so many designs from baby announcements, holiday photo cards and weddings.

The Green Kangaroo is better know for their modern and unique wedding invitations, but they have an amazing collection of holiday photo cards too!  If you are a bride hosting a destination wedding (like in a tropical paradise or a mountain retreat) their pocket wedding invitations are sure to work with any destination. I especially love this wedding invitations set

I love so many of their holiday photo cards – this one was one of my favorites because I can imagine my kiddos in this cute card.

You can also find The Green Kangaroo on Facebook and on their blog.

The Green Kangaroo provided all of my guests this adorable note card and envelope set.

My friends just loved them!  Not only did The Green Kangaroo provide this for my friends but also for one of my readers.  Next week I will be having a giveaway with a goodie bag filled with fun stuff.  This adorable note card set will be in this goodie bag – so keep a look out for the giveaway post next week.
Thanks The Green Kangaroo for sponsoring my party – you are awesome!

Treat Jars

I know for some it may be a bit to early to start showing you some fun Halloween decorations.  Fall is a super busy time for me so I try to prep a little early.  You could also use this idea for any time of year or holiday.

A couple of weeks ago I was able to attend a blogger meetup hosted by Snap! at IKEA in Draper.  IKEA is a favorite place of mine and I am so lucky that it is only 8 minutes away from me.  IKEA gave me and my kids a yummy breakfast, told us about some of their new products and gave us a little shopping spree. We were also given the newest catalog!  It was awesome!  One of the items I got were these cute little jars.  The pack of 4 is $3.99 – not expensive at all.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.  I love giving little treats throughout the year and especially at Halloween and knew this would be perfect.  You could use this idea to make party favors, a teacher gift, any holiday gift, a thank you treat – really anything would work.  So let’s get started.

Grab some paper scraps that you have around the house.

Next I cut a bunch of circles and a shape like a sun.  The jar lid is a 2 inch circle.  So my bigger circle is just slightly less than 2 inches.  The sun shape is a bit smaller than the big circle and the smaller circle just a little bit smaller than that.  I think the small circle ended up being just under 1 1/2 inches.

Since I was working on 4 jars I chose 4 pieces of each shape.

Now ink the edges of the papers.  This is optional but I really do think it makes a difference. I just used a small black ink pad like this one

You can tell in the below picture the difference it makes.  I inked the circle on the left – it really does add a bit of depth and character to the project

I wanted to put a word on the small circle.  I cut the word Boo! out with vinyl – if you don’t have a way to cut out vinyl you could do some small stickers or your own handwriting.

See how great the word looks on the small circle!

Glue the sun shape onto the big circle (I used glue dots)

On the back of the small circle I put an adhesive foam square – you could use pop dots or anything that will give it a bit of lift.  I like the dimensional look this gives it.

I think this little circle turned out so cute

Glue the circle onto the lid (I used glue dots again).  Fill the jars with candy – put on the lid and using some tulle tie a little knot around each jar

I just love how these turned out!  They were very inexpensive, fast and easy to make.

Don’t you just love fast cute projects like these?
